Mounted Shooting Horse Network

For Cowboy Mounted Shooters Worldwide

Just curious. Would people rather have shoots that are cheaper to enter or would you rather pay more and have a chance at a payout. Most payouts still do not allow anyone to profit in this sport. Would adding a second, optional entry fee for those who want to compete for cash satisfy both groups? How about letting those that want to compete for money, write as big a check as they want, hoping to win it back. Is this fair to everyone? Since MSA awards points based on money earned, does this let top shooters buy the points championship? I think we all like to see a lot of participation at shoots, as long as they run smoothly. The question is, what would attract more people? More money available to win or less money spent to enter? Have I missed a better solution? What does everyone think?

If Ya'll have not read the article about Denny Gentry in WSH Mag. December 09 edition...you should...very "enlightening"..most important article since the mag started IMO.

I agree that is a very important article. I had heard from some ropers that Denny Gentry was a genius at promoting horse events. I really liked the article & what he had to say. Just hope we have enough mounted shooting interest & support to please Mr. Gentry & equigames. My fear is with this bad economy it will be hard to get the numbers up at big events. Maybe things will start getting better by early next year. I have told many people about the WSH magazine. It is very well put together & darn good reading. I like the fact that they published several letters to the editor about the "goof" they seemed to have about the top 7 mounted shooting horses.

..Thom...they can expect more about the "Best" mounted Shooting pistols...those are the "niche" models save the Colt...but the number of Old and New Ruger Vaquero's in the sport continue to be huge...so a serious ommission in my estimation.

for the next mag......they are doing a story on the top 10 short portly people, so you can look for me.

I think that Denny is going to breath life into this sport. he is what professionalism is all about.
we have had so much negativity and a "I don't care what you think " or "if you don't like, then don't come" attitude.
shooting folks are looking for someone like Denny.
from what I here, He works well with people. and he gives a good show. I ve never met the fellow, but I sure welcome his involvement.
Thomas, I just dont think the economy is going to be an issue, and neither will Thanksgiving or the flu.
there is enough support and interest and I think his shoots will always fill up.
Mounted shooting has branched.
we are doing some fun jackpots and MSA and SASS instead of paying all the fees heretofore and currently associated with an event, that made it a totally unaffordable family sport. ie. (the day parking fee)
Mounted shooting is going forward with full force and will continue in that direction.and Thomas, like you, WSH is the the new "Shooter's Bible"
