Dear Tom:

I would consider it an honor to volunteer to help in anyway you deem fitting. I am available all three days. Please communicate with me directly via email: rd.king@att.net

QuarterFest Help needed!

The second installment of QuarterFest is set to take place Friday, April 30, Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2, in lovely Murfreesboro, Tennessee (just outside Nashville). This year, there will be no rain and after learning a lot from our first round with this event, we’re set to welcome more recreational, home-based horse owners from throughout North America for QuarterFest II.

Of course, an event of this magnitude isn’t possible without the help, dedication and support of a great group of volunteers…and we need volunteers again this year.

We’re looking for 30 hard-working, fun, horse-savvy people to volunteer any…or all of the three days above.

Areas that need assistance are:
Youth (helping young people, handling horses, crafts, etc)
Arena volunteers (help coordinate clinics and demonstrations)
Ticketing and admissions
Stalling
Competition help

If you feel like getting away for a day or two…maybe even a few hours each day, please respond to this e-mail and let me know you’d like to volunteer to help at QuarterFest II! Also, tell me what days and/or times you’d like to help…

For our wonderful Volunteers, you’ll receive:
· FREE admission to QuarterFest
· T-shirt
· Assistance with meals
· Opportunity to meet new AQHA members
· Special Volunteer recognition party
· Admission to see/meet Red Steagall
· And More – as we finish up our plans

QuarterFest is a fun event geared toward the non competing, recreational, home-based horse owner. New this year, we’ve added different clinics and there will be a special Play Day slated with great prizes awarded! Please come and join us…it’s a great way to introduce the American Quarter Horse lifestyle to new people!

IF YOU CANNOT VOLUNTEER BUT KNOW SOMEBODY WHO CAN, PLEASE SEND THEM THIS NOTE AND HAVE THEM CONTACT ME.

Thank you in advance for considering helping us with QuarterFestII

I was a little confused because on the 10th and 11th in batesville, MS there is an MSA shoot scheduled. That's about an hour from Paul Battle. Personally, I will not be attending, but I thought you were. The Tennessee club is having a club point match on the 11th and 12th in Paul Battle.

RD, I am talking about events at the same place that the following event will be held at, so as nobody needs to change camping places, etc, etc. I don't know about the MSA shoot on the 10th and 11th. It's like they do at Murfreesboro when there are several events in the same arena on dates that are close so contestants can come, ride and shoot for a week straight.

Eric, is the MSA shoot on the 10th and 11th still scheduled? That isn't in the same arena as you mentioned, is it?

Mares, studs, geldings, pick your poison. Reminds me of a friend who chooses to ride mules cause he says they are so much more "PRACTICAL" I had to tell him it's all recreation an not much "PRACTICAL" about any of it.
So much for gender, breed, etc. On a different vein, I think the idea of a shoot the day or two before the major at the same location is a great idea. Everyone is already headed to that location, and it's optional for those who can get the extra time off and want to run in the same arena they will be in for the upcoming major event. Wish we were going to Tunica instead of Guthrie for that part of it. Just seems like the two events on one gas ticket makes sense.

There was a recent article in the Western Horseman about a ranch that uses nothing but mares. They keep the best using ones for raising better foals. My preference is mares or stallions. While the stallions will occasionally talk a little, the mares I have had have not had the "bitchiness" usually tagged onto the female species. Now, if you ask someone that of me, I might ave to agree with them! :)

Ya, and both my stallions are better tempered than them evil mares (cept Tyra).

Uh oh now I think we're drifting into mares vs geldings....
