Ben Avery Camping Information

Ben Avery Range Cards and Camping

Currently, camping is dry only at the Mounted Shooting Center, MSC, where we have outdoor corrals available.

The current RV sites (water and electrical with an on site sewer dump) are about 3/4 of a mile away, and yes, Ben Avery is that big! The sites are due south of the range office.

A new RV camp ground is expected to start construction next July (2010). We expect to have covered stalls available at the same time. The stalls will be located right next to this RV campground which will have full hookups and extra wide spaces to accommodate mounted shooters. The facility and RV sites are integrated and designed by mounted shooters!

Please note that general camping and horse camping are only permitted for gun sports such as mounted shooting.

All level 2 or higher can get range cards at the Shooter's Center at Ben Avery. No Charge! This allows drop in practice for $7. The charge is per rider entering the arena. No charge for multiple horses or to just have a horse on the grounds. There is a trailer dump in the existing RV campground south of the Facility office.

Here are the camping fees. Call the Facility Office,(623) 582-8313, with questions or for reservations

Fees
With Utilities (water & electric)
$25 daily
$100 weekly
$300 monthly (10 day shooters pass required)
Without Utilities
$12 daily
$50 weekly
$150 monthly

I agree With Nancy!.. i go to Dunn's arena on some weekends just to ride my boy and dry fire my guns, but it REALLY helps when there is a cover.. there will be alot more people out there when the cover is up..

I bet there will be more summer riders when the covered arena is completed. Sure makes a difference getting out of the direct sun!

Thanks for the nice comments! This was a wonderful year for visitors and making new friends. It gets so quiet in the summer, though.

There were 18 shooters practicing on Sunday. Everyone just showed up and rode.

I second that! The shooting community there all play well together. You never know who's going to show up . . . even crazy people from Minnesota! It is a great place to practice shooting and have a gun day.

The Minnesota Madness stayed at the Ben Avery in Feb of 2010 and fully enjoyed the facility and people! It was a great place to get away for the winter, meet wonderful people, and shoot!

We had discussions with AGFD regarding camping at Ben Avery. They expect to have convenient RV sites next year. In the meantime, dry camping is available at the arena. There are temporary stalls in place. Call the facility to confirm availability.

We are targeting having full facilities available in about one year. There is lots of planned construction including water, power and grading that will be underway shortly. 4 sites will be constructed late this year for Camp Hosts who will maintain the facility.
