I love my colts. For our anniversary,Jim got me matched colts that were from the colt custom shop from a collector. I have enjoyed the beautiful guns with the Ivory handles. This is really romantic...... Jim has been a collector of Colts longer than mounted shooting has been around. They have proved a good investment over the years... He just likes to display then and enjoy them, too.

Howdy there! I have a pair of 3rd Generation 5.5 inch Colts. Had them for years, did action shooting with them and when we started doing mounted shooting I still used the colts. Got arthritis in my thumbs and switched to my daughter Kathy's old guns with turned down hammers. Now I've got a replacement pair of Colt hammers I bought at the world's in Amarillo, had Jack Diamond turn down the replacement hammer spurs and now I'm using the Colts again. Nothing like the real thing. I still have my original hammers in case I need them! People ask what kind of guns I use and I say Colts. They say yeah but who made them??? Silly question....

I started out with Rugar Vaqueros but they were too heavy and jammed up alot.
Then I bought a pair of Cimmarons-nice, light and great action but they were wearing out. So, I sold them and Mike took the money to buy me a Colt for my birthday and gave me his Colt he won at EOT a couple of years ago. Colts are perfect for Mounted shooting-very reliable and great for my girly hands. I had the hammers turned down last year and what a difference!

Matt is right Zane.....Colts are the very best you can get. I totally agree. my comfort zone is with my Rugers. I never did like the Montados. I used them once, and sold them .
hey Zane , take a picture of your colts and use them fin the informantion page for your picture.

I started with Cimmarrons and then had a gunsmith mess the hammers up. So I switched to Colts and use the first pair I bought.

I do shoot Colts, started out with Rugers and within a few months went to Colts, In my opinion beter balance, lighter more comfortable in my hand, still shooting the first pair I purchased.

I started out with Ruger Montado's March of 08. I shot with them all the way through 08 Worlds. But after multiple slipped hammers at shoots and the most eventful on my first run at Worlds I switched over to Colts. I know a lot of shooters love Rugers but after using the Colts this year I would never go back. They seem lighter and more balanced. I also like the hammers better even though they are higher. I am looking forward to seeing the new lowered hammers that are to be available this year. Has anyone talked to Colt to see if they are giving a date as to when those might be available?
