My club had a board meeting yesterday...and discussed this new deal...not a way to grow the sport if you ask me. It is our thought we will just be running our own "exhibition" or time only runs for appropriate riders...this will save them money, a...

Being just a member of a local shooting club has now became non-existent with the “day fee" that CMSA is has now included within their rulebook for 2010. Local clubs are no longer made up of club members that are CMSA cardholders or NCC’s otherwi...

Definition of Cowboy Country by regions

I came across an old National Geographic from December 2007 and found an article called 21st - Century Cowboys.

I use the term Buckaroo because that is what my father called our way of life growing up and that is the term I still use today to describe my way of riding. Even in a sidesaddle I am still a "buckaroo".

In the NG article much to my surprise I found a map listing the cowboy terms for Buckaroo, Cowboy, Cowpuncher, and Vaquero. Of course the latter being in Mexico & some parts of S… Continue

Arabian Horse Association now has all 3 mounted shooting clubs on board

Single Action Shooting Society - Mounted Shooting has chosen to come on board with the AHA under the Open Event Incentive Program. The Incentive Program now has all three of the National Mounted Clubs listed as host clubs under the “Mounted Shooting” category, CMSA, MSA & SASS.

The Open Event Incentive Program rewards both Riders and Horses that excel in all-breed competitions outside of the traditional Arabian horse community. As a participant in OEIP, you and your horse will accumulate po… Continue

Dottie Our Border Wars shoot will most likely be held over Memorial Day again this year at Montfort Wisconsin. Last year it was $150 for all 3 days, but I think it's gonna go up to $180 this year, but that is for ALL THREE Grand Americans. Stalls and camping were not very expensive either. Look for it on the CMSA site. Also last year, class winners from each day were put in a hat and one lucky person won a colt revolver. There is an indoor arena as well as an outdoor, so we ran two arenas. If we have poor weather, we intend to run 3 stages only and run it all inside.

Hi, Dottie, a "huckleberry rig" is just a single shoulder holster, to be used with another single holster on another gunbelt. Us mostly dead guys whose waists tend to be bigger than our chests find them more useful than a traditional cross draw, easier to make that gun change when you aren't having to reach around your belly...instead the holster kind of sits on top of it! Of course, I'm still slim and manly looking (LOL, don't look at my pics!!) so I don't actually need it for that reason but it really can make for a faster, easier gun change. I'm also making Marty a matching traditional gunbelt with strong side holster, just now working on it. Jon

I was a bikers old lady in my early 20's. Was at a biker party when a guy flipping through TV channels had someone go grab me 'cause "there was a stage full of women with muscles like mine." Was glued to the womens bodybuilding contest till it was over. Decided to make a lifestyle change. Found a gym 6 months later. Been whining ever since ;0)

Hi Dottie,
Thanks. We were lucky in that no one was going fast so there wasn't a lot of damage. In fact, the dump truck's bumper was bent so far forward that it looked like a unicorn.

My Ram is a 3500 dually and I really like it. It gets good mileage as it is a diesel and you virtually can't stall it. I like it in the pastures, I can just put it in gear and take my foot off the accelerator and it goes forward.

Hey Dottie,
Thanks for visiting the Ammy Forum. I think that forum will be a good place for us to get people interested in the sport. I will post about it on the AHA forum.
