Gene White - Update

On Friday, May 1st, Gene broke his right leg (femur bone) above the steel rod in his artificial knee - yes, this was his "real leg" (his left is the one they amputated last July). On Tuesday, May 12th, he finished breaking another spot on his femur bone - the doctor's missed it when they did the first surgery and didn't plate the bone far enough up so this break was already there but just a hidden fracture they missed. So on Tuesday when the therapist were showing him how to roll onto his right… Continue

All that recreational shooting was to be set up by Wil Lantis......he promised that he would have a nursing home with a wing just for the Mounted Shooters. I remind Travis and Mary Ellen often. Amy wants one wing barrel racers, and I suppose we could add team ropers to keep it rodeo. Travis said it sounded like a lot of liability issues. Fun to imagine though isn't it.......then throw in a little demensia, deafness and Jim Rogers. WOW that would be volatile!!!

Hi Karie,
good news, Shawn is back from Iraq. They finally realized that, with a broken back, he should not be there. He's in pain, but home. He's going to Houston sometime next month to talk to the backsurgent. He's gonna have to take it easy if he wants to compete at the world, so his back will hold up until then. And after off to surgery.

Howdy Karie!

I am glad your dad enjoyed the card. You guys were missed at our big shoot last weekend! I did wear a yellow shirt on Friday for support. Will there be anything in the rundown on the yellow shirt program? Our club did a very nice Memorial Day tribute before shooting on Monday and we had those that had served tell the announcer and it was announced as they rode. At the awards they were all asked to stand up. I was surprised because there were vets that I did not know were vets so that was cool. I even snuck in for the State win and the high point men's saddle for the weekend! Thomas Porter had it wrapped up but dropped two balloons on the last stage in a nasty wind. He and I were only 4 tenths of a second apart after 12 stages for the saddle!

Vaya con Dios! Payson

We really hated to miss that shoot. I don't think that we have missed a Clarksville shoot since they started having them there. I should be good to go the middle of June. I see below that Gene broke his leg. Is he OK?

Just heard about Gene's broken leg today. Tell him we, on the Western Slope, are thinking about him.

Karie, I can not shoot at Cloverdale...We have been to two shoots there last year, and after being in that arena for an hour, I get an extreme head ache, and end up at the Dr office the next monday, with sinus congestion, and the last time fluid in my lungs....Yes I do have allergys, but this arena is the only one I have trouble in....I guess they sprayed the dirt with something to keep it moist, and that is the only thing we can think of that may be causing it. I LOVE the arena...It is BIG. The warm up arena is attatched to the main arena that is just devided by a fence. The stalls, wash racks, and arenas are all under one roof. Wish I could go..good luck Connie
